Why is preschool and kids playing and interacting with each other so important?

Playing together can help children develop in many ways, including:

  • Social skills – Children learn how to work together, compromise, and resolve conflicts. They also learn to recognize and respond to others’ feelings, share, and show affection.
  • Creativity – Children can use their imagination and creativity by playing make-believe games and acting out different solutions. They also learn to come up with their own ideas and solutions to problems.
  • Language skills – Playing with others gives children opportunities to improve their language skills, which can boost their self-esteem.
  • Literacy – Playtime can help children learn through fun activities and build a foundation for literacy.
  • Brain development – Physical play has been shown to have a positive connection with brain development.
  • Emotional stability – Children of families who play together may be more emotionally stable and better able to handle stressful situations.
